PESHAWAR - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested Qazi Wajid Ullah and Irfan, the employees of Bank Al-Baraka Hayatabad Branch Peshawar, for alleged involvement in embezzlement of approximately Rs.55m in SNGPL utility bills.
As per details, a complaint was received regarding embezzlement of a huge amount in Al Barka Bank in respect of SNGPL utility bills. NAB (KP) took cognizance of the issue and started inquiry into the matter which transpired that the accused persons in connivance with others used to pocket the amount of utility bills paid by SNGPL consumers through Al Baraka Bank, Hayatabad, Peshawar.
The accused persons concealed their wrongdoings by manipulating the bank record and they generated and forwarded fake scrolls to SNGPL. The accused persons in connivance with others kept on embezzling the funds from November 2009 to April 2014. It has been unearthed that Rs. 55 million have been embezzled by the accused.
NAB is vigorously pursuing the case and important disclosures are expected from the arrested accused persons which can lead to further arrests in the case in hand. The accused persons will be presented in the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining physical remand.
Cops recruitment in KP starts
The recruitment process of Constables in KP Police for the year 2015 has started through NTS. To ensure merit, transparency and fair play the recruitment of constables was awarded to NTS in 2014.
More than 37000 candidates had applied through NTS last year which shows the overwhelming response and confidence of people on the process. Around 2600 constables were finally selected in all the 24 districts of KPK through a transparent and verifiable process.
The entire process of recruitment was completed smoothly with no complaint of any foul play from any district.
Physical test of the candidates will be held from 31st March to 11th April at Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Timargara, Chitral, Abbotabad, Mansehra, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
In order to encourage the educated youth for joining the police force, additional marks will be given to the applicants as per the following format: Intermediate 2 marks, Bachelor Degree 2, Master Degree and above 1 Mark only.
The IGP KP Nasir Khan Durrani has said that positive change in police force and thana culture can only be brought through a transparent & merit based enlistment process.
