LAHORE - The Punjab Assembly on Monday admitted a motion against former Federal Minister Syeda Abida Hussain for ridiculing the women legislators elected on reserved seats.
In a privilege motion, Raheela Khadim Hussain of PML-N alleged that Abida Hussain mentioned the women lawmakers at a TV show with disdain as she called the reserved seats as those given in charity to undeserving ladies. She further stated that it was an insult not only to the women members of the house but also to the constitution.
Parliamentary secretary Nazar Gondal did not oppose the motion and the Acting speaker referred it the privilege committee of the house to hold Abida Hussain accountable for her indecent utterances against the women legislators.
