LAHORE: A 35-year-old government employee ended his life by hanging himself with the ceiling fan at his office in Old Anarkali today.

Police said Muhammad Shafique was working as Naib Qasid at the Punjab Irrigation Department. The body was moved to the morgue.

Shafique reached his office in the morning. Hours later, he went to a room, locked it from inside and committed suicide. “The body was hanging from the ceiling fan with a piece of cloth tied to his neck as we reached the spot,” a police investigator said.

A colleague of the deceased told reporters that Shafique was upset for the last couple of months and he committed suicide because of the rude behavior of senior officers. Further investigations were underway.
