LAHORE: Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed toOday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking directions for the Punjab government to present audit reports related to the foreign tours/visits of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Mr. Rasheed through his counsel said that recently the Auditor General of Pakistan had pointed out massive irregularities in the funds utilized for Chief Minister’s foreign visits. The petitioner submitted that a news published few days back revealed the alleged corruption of the Punjab CM during his foreign visits. He alleged that Punjab Chief Minister misused public funds for his foreign tours/visits.

He further said that public accounts committee remained dysfunctional or non-functional as the respondents failed to produce audit reports of departments under the government of Punjab before the provincial assembly as well as Public Accounts Committee. He prayed to the court to order the Punjab government to present audits reports of year 2014 and 2015 before the audit reports related to the foreign tours/ visits of Punjab Chief Minister before Public Accounts Committee of Punjab Assembly.
