LAHORE - Opening batsman Ahmad Shahzad is likely to replace off-coloured Khurram Manzoor in the World Twenty20 squad while Babar Azam can replace Sharjeel Khan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked Shahzad to submit his passport to get his Indian visa well in time. The opening batsman was rested for the Asia Cup and World T20 but his consistent performances during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) compelled the selectors to select him for the mega T20 event to be held in India this month.

The pathetic performance of Khurram Manzoor’s also forced the selectors to rethink about their decision and replace him with Shahzad, who is near to complete 1,000 T20I runs and just 59 runs away from achieving this target. First-ever century maker of PSL Sharjeel Khan also remained off colour throughout the Asia Cup and he can likely be replaced with Babar Azam. A PCB official confirmed that Shahzad had been asked to submit his passport for the World T20.

“His inclusion in the World T20 squad will be made official soon,” he added.
