LAHORE - Sikh Sangat Pakistan (SSP) yesterday demanded dismissal of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Siddiqul Farooq for getting involved in corruption.

Carrying placards and banners against the ETPB chairman, scores of Sangat supporters staged a demonstration in front of the Punjab Assembly.

Talking to The Nation SSP President Mastan Singh said that the ETPB chairman and his accomplices should step down for selling Gurdwara lands to their favorites.

He demanded the arrest of all the officials involved in the scam.

He alleged that the chairman was victimising the employees of ETPB and harassing them by getting FIR registered against them.

“The chairman has started doing business on the land of Gurdwara,” he claimed adding that a committee formed on Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) was being used against Sikhs.

Mastan Singh said: “Gurdwara lands were as being grabbed in Nankana Sahib but the chairman was unmoved on the issue. Sardar Sham Singh has no recognition in the Sikhs but he was being made president of PSGPC.”

He further alleged Siddiq instead of elimination of the corruption from ETPB has himself involved in it.

When contacted, Siddiq said Mastan Singh was a ‘blackmailer and got involved in Rs500,000 donation fraud during his tenure as PSGPC president’. Mastan Singh had also blackmailed former chairman, he alleged.
