Senate elections are being held on March 3 as new Senators will be elected. Female politicians and senators have remained a vital part of Senate legislation and standing committees of the upper house. These female senators have played an important and active role in the legislation of Senate. The female senators are expected to play significant role in the house from 2018 to 2024.
Sherry Rehman
In June 2015, she was elected to the Senate of Pakistan for the first time as a candidate of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on general seat from Sindh. Her tenure ends in 2021. She had been Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States from 2011 to 2013.
She has done B.A in political sciences from the Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1985. From there, she moved to the United Kingdom, where she received an M.A in art history from the University of Sussex.
Ayesha Raza Farooq
She is a Pakistani politician who was elected as the member of the Senate of Pakistan in 2015. Her term as a Senator ends in 2021.
She was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on reserved seats for women from Punjab in the general elections of 2013.
She has done Master in Business Administration from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in 1995. She also holds a degree of Bachelor in Laws. She obtained this degree from University of Punjab in 2013.
Gul Bashra
She is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of Senate of Pakistan since March 2015. Her tenure ends in 2021.
She was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party on reserved seat for women in Pakistani Senate election, 2015.
Sassui Palijo
She is a member of Pakistan People’s Party and was elected as a Senator of Pakistan on women's reserved seat from Sindh in March 2015. She was the only directly elected female assembly member in Sindh out of 168 assembly members. Her term ends in 2021.

Sehar Kamran
She is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of Senate of Pakistan, since March 2012. Her term in Senate ends in 2018.
She was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan People’s Party in Pakistani Senate election, 2012.
She has done Bachelor in Arts from the University of Karachi in 1987.
Khushbakht Shujaat
She is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the Senate of Pakistan since March 2015. She has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013.
She was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from Constituency NA-250 as a candidate of MQM in Pakistani general election, 2008.
She ran for the seat of National Assembly of Pakistan from Constituency NA-250 as a candidate of MQM in Pakistani general election, 2013 but was unsuccessful.
In 2015, she was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of MQM. Her term ends in 2021.
She received degree in MA from University of Karachi in 1972.
