ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on April 30, for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered increase of 0.34 per cent over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 194.29 as against 193.63 registered in the previous week, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. The SPI for the combined group registered increase of 0.20 per cent by rising from 186.14 in the previous week to 186.52 in the week under review. As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 23.93 per cent. The SPI for the groups falling in the income brackets of 3001-5000, 5001-12000 and above 12000 witnessed increase of 0.29, 0.20 and 0.04 respectively. During the week under review average prices of 6 items registered decrease, while that of 23 items increased with the remaining 24 items' prices unchanged. The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included, wheat (average quality), chicken (farm), egg hen (farm), wheat flour (average quality), garlic, LPG( 11 kg cylinder). The items which registered increase in their prices included, gram pulse (washed), masoor pulse (washed), rice irri-6, rice basmati (broken), potatoes, moong pulse (washed), bananas, sugar, gur, tomatoes, onions, red chillies, milk fresh, curd, firewood, washing soap (nylon), tea (prepared), mutton, bath soap (Lifebouy), beef, voil (printed), vegetable ghee (loose) and mash pulse (washed). The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included, bread plain (mid size), milk powdered (Nido), vegetable ghee (tin), mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), salt powdered, tea packet, cooked beef plate, cooked dal plate, cigarettes k-2, coarse latha, lawn, shirting, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal spng.(Bata),  kerosene, electricity bulb (60wats), match box, gas charges (up to 3.3719 MMBTU), electricity charges, petrol, diesel, and telephone local call.
