ISLAMABAD (APP) - Pakistan and China have re-opened border for trade and tourism at Khunjrab from May 1. According to a statement issued by the Management of the Silk Route Dry Port, the port has also started its business operations with the taking over of the new management of the port at Sost (Upper Hunza) near Khunjarab. The inaugural ceremony of the Silk port with its new management was held in the presence of Chinese friend who came to the Sost for attending the ceremony. The officials of the Northern Areas Administration, the management of the Silk Route Dry Port and large number of people of Hunza hailing from Kilick to Mayun were present there to warmly welcome their Chinese fiends at the ceremony. The 9-member Chinese delegation at the ceremony was led by Mr. Dang. The flags of Pakistan and China were also hoisted with full throatslogans by local particpants like Allah-o-Akbar, long live Pak-China  friendship, long live Pakistan long live China, and long live Pakistan Peoples Party. The speakers, speaking on the occasion said that people of Hunza are playing a vital role in the socio economic development of Pakistan and would continue to play their important role in future as well in this regard. The newly elected Chairman of the Silk Route Dry Port, Ali Afsar speaking on the occasion assured his complete support to Pakistan's local administration, customs officials and the Chinese Custom officials at the dry port. He added that in Norther Areas specially in Hunza and Nagar Areas, there is no law and order problem as the people of the area are peaceful and tourist and business friendly.
