AC bogie in Shah Shamas Express demanded

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A large number of Pakistan Railways passengers, including the business community, have demanded the concerned authorities of department to immediately restore AC facility in Lahore-Multan Shah Shamas Express so that cash-hungry Pakistan Railways could earn handsome revenue by offering this facility. They said that the department was earning a huge profit due to attachment of the air conditioned and parlour coaches with the Multan-bound trains. And now majority of the passengers have moved to AC buses for the travel due to unavailability of these coaches in the Multan-bound trains. Hence the department is suffering a heavy loss due to this reason. According to details, passengers particularly the traders, who often move between Lahore and Multan through night coach, usually prefer to travel in AC coaches and in past it had become very hard to get AC coach ticket especially in summer season which is the longest season in Pakistan. They were of the view that when Pakistan Railways was earning a handsome amount after offering this facility, why the concerned authority has stopped these coaches rather instead of increasing their numbers. Two months has passed, they said, new PR management has taken reins of the department but this revenue-generating step could not be carried out. They demanded that Pakistan Railways management should take immediate steps to restore AC coaches for Multan-bound trains especially the Shah Shamas Express.
