UNITED NATIONS - UN Secretary-general Ban Ki- moon on Monday welcomed the announcement of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Ladens death as a watershed moment in the global efforts to fight terrorism. President Barack Obama announced last night that bin Laden the founder and head of Al-Qaeda was killed by US forces at a compound in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad. Speaking to reporters at UN Headquarters in New York, Ban said it was a day to remember the victims and families of victims, here in the US and everywhere in the world.Ban described bin Ladens death as a watershed moment in our common global fight against terrorism.
