BAHAWALPUR - Like other parts of the country, the International Labour Day was observed here on Tuesday with great enthusiasm and passion. Different programmes were held by numerous organisations to mark the day with the pledge to continue hard work for national progress and prosperity and welfare of the workers. The main function was organised by the District People’s Labour Bureau and was addressed by the PPP Labourers Wing chief.

On the occasion, speakers highlighted the importance of the day and PPP’s contribution for the welfare of the labourers.

They paid homage to the PPP founding chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for his remarkable services and policies for the welfare of the poor and labours.

They requested the government to provide labours with relief for better living and working conditions. They also demanded that the People’s Textile Mill, which was closed down in 1977 after the removal of the PPP government, be reorganised to accommodate thousands of workers.
