LAHORE–The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) on Wednesday threatened Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani to leave the PM House within 15 days or be ready to face a protest movement against him.

The LBA threatened this through a resolution passed in a general house session held on Wednesday at Aiwan-e-Adl.

The LBA called the general house session on the agenda that was solidarity with the apex court and implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict regarding conviction of prime minister in contempt case.

The meeting expressed full confidence in Chief Justice of Pakistan and the judiciary. The resolution demanded that the prime minister should resign immediately as he was no longer eligible to hold the office after declared convicted by the Supreme Court.

Addressing the general house, LBA President Chaudhary Zulifqar said the general house session was not called on indications of any political party, but to show solidarity with the apex court.

“Those who are burning copies of the verdict on TV Channels are committing contempt of the court. It is a historical decision which indicates existence of rule of law in the country,” Zulfiqar said adding that PM Gilani should resign immediately from his office.

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party and its government should respect the verdicts passed by the apex court.

The legal fraternity would ready for any challenge for implementation of the Supreme Court’s order. The Lahore Bar announced to launch a protest if the Prime Minister didn’t resign within 15 days.

Advocates including Rana Saeed, Muhammad Aslam Khan Buttar, Latif Srra and Zafar Abbas Gillani also addressed at the occasion. They said that not a single lawyer voted against the requisition because lawyers knew that the court had given a verdict on merit.
