Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday announced to involve Rangers in the ongoing operation against the criminals in Lyari along with police personnel who were conducting operations against the criminals.

The Chief Minister also announced Rs2 million as compensation for the bereaved families of police officials who lost their lives during the Lyari operation which continued on the seventh day.

The chief minister also mentioned difficulties of conducting the operation in an area with narrow and steep lanes. “Taliban are fighting along with local gangster in Lyari,” he revealed.

During the past seven days, around 30 people, as well as six security personnel, have lost their lives in the operation. Meanwhile, hundreds of Lyari residents continued to flee the fighting as they tried to flee from the violence-ridden area.
