ISLAMABAD- A Sessions court in Islamabad today ordered registration of a case against Geo, Jang Group and Amir Mir for levelling allegations against secret agencies.
Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad Muhammad Jehangir Awan, ordered registration of FIR against the owner of Geo News channel Mir Shakil ur Rehman and Amir Mir under section 6-B and C of the Anti Terrorism Act, over levelling allegations against a secret agency (ISI).
Petitioner Arshad Butt through his lawyer had filed a plea under section 154 seeking registration of case against Mir Shakil ur Rehman and Amir Mir, a brother of television anchor Hamid Mir. Amir Mir had levelled allegations against intelligence agencies after his brother Hamid Mir was attacked in Karachi on April 19, 2014.
On the other hand the counsel of Geo/Jang Group Faisal Khan argued that the petitioner was not aggrieved person. He said the Islamabad High Court has already dismissed a plea on the same stance. However, the court in its orders directed the SHO Margalla to register FIR against those involved in defamation of Army and ISI.
