Pak-China accords

The visit of the Chinese President Xi Jinping to Pakistan has kick started a lot of fast-track projects between the two friendly neighbours. Agreements worth $28 billion were signed which were huge compared to the American $7.5 billion package. The visit of the Chinese leader is being termed as “historic”, as strong defense and security ties, nuclear energy cooperation and expansion of trade were discussed. The projects signed under the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor will greatly benefit both the countries especially Pakistan. The current government seems determined to continue to enhance bilateral relations with China which is fast emerging as a powerful economy in the world. Given the myriad problems which Pakistan is facing, like energy and extremism, the government’s endeavour to enhance strategic relations with China is commendable.
