Pakistan junior hockey team named for India series

KARACHI (APP) - The Selection of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Sunday announced a strong 20-member Pakistan junior hockey squad for the five test match series against India being held in Pakistan later this month. Full-back Muhammad Ateeq has been retained as the Captain of the team while Olympian Kashif Ali will be his deputy Team was picked by chief selector Hasan Sardar from among the 36-players after one-day trial at Hockey Club of Pakistan. The opening test of the series will be played at HCP on November 12. PHF President Qasim Zia, Secretary Asif Bajwa were also present on the occasion. Qasim Zia said that he will be meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to seek his help from the provincial government for the promotion and development of National sport across the province. He is also expected to meet with City Nazim Syed Mustufa Kamal for the renovation and development of hockey grounds in the city. Pakistan junior squad is: Imran Shah, Waqas Ahmed (goalkeepers) Kashif Ali ,M.Ateeq, Imran Abbas( full-backs) M.Irfan, Zaheer Ahmed, Aamir Shehzad, Fareed  Ahmed,M.Rashid (half backs), Adeel Hussain, Shafiq Raso; captain, Haseem Khan, M.Zubair, Shabaz, Rizwan, Taufeeq, Yasir, Hasan Akhtar, Azlan Khan (forwards). Qamar Ibrahim (Chief coach) Danish Kaleem, Ahmed Alam (coaches), Faiz-ur-Rehman (physio) and Nadeem Lodhi (video analyst) are officials of the team.
