LAHORE Khawaja Haris Ahmad has resigned as Advocate General Punjab. Sources in the Punjab Advocate General office said that Khawaja Harris has sent his resignation to the authorities expressing personal reasons not to continue the job. However, the sources said that the Advocate General had certain reservations over certain appointments made in his office and prosecution department, and also wanted increase in the salaries of the law officers. They claimed that Harris who was very close to the Sharif family and had appeared for them in number of cases including the one relating to the eligibility to contest case before the SC, sent his resignation to the CM on Saturday and since then he did not attend the office. Despite attempts, Haris did not attend the phone to give his reaction. A senior law officer on condition of anonymity said that Harris has resigned. He, however, added he did not know whether or not the resignation has been accepted. The sources further claimed that following resignation of Haris at least three other law officers are poised to follow his suit. Harris had previously also tendered resignation which was not accepted by the office of the Chef Minister. Among others, the Chief Law Officer of the Punjab demanded more independence to his office which the government had conceded at that time, the sources added.
