The Frontier Corps (FC) personnel who was martyred by insurgents in Ghalanai area of Mohmand Agency was laid to rest in ancestral graveyard situated in Karihaider village adjacent to the city on Thursday. Sources said that Abdul Manan s/o Abdullah was kidnapped by insurgents in Ghalanai some five days ago and demanded Rs 3 million ransoms from the family of the deceased. As the deceased personnel of FC belonged to a poor family, he could not pay the ransom to the kidnappers. The kidnappers after failure to get the ransom killed Abdul Manan and dumped his body nearby the road which was shifted to his village by law enforcement agencies personnel. The incident sparked rage and panic among the locals and family members of the deceased. They said the government must have either secured his release through action against the kidnappers or paid the amount of ransom to save a precious and innocent life.
