KP govt to challenge power tariff hike

PESHAWAR (Online) - Rejecting the raise in power tariff, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to move the Supreme Court against the increase. The provincial government has constituted a panel of legal experts that will file a writ petition in the court, challenging the hike in electricity tariff. Earlier, the provincial government submitted an application in the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) against the hike in electricity tariff, taking the plea that the increase would add to the miseries of people of the province, which was badly affected by the terrorism. It was also mentioned in the appeal that the increase would be unjust as there were enough resources of generating electricity in the province and the provincial government was also producing electricity.
