LHC seeks reply on petition against presidential pardon for Malik

Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought reply from interior minister and federal government on a petition filed against the presidential pardon for interior minister Rehman Malik. A 2-member bench of LHC presided over by Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh took up miscellaneous petition seeking nullification of presidential pardon in respect of Rehman Malik for hearing Thursday. The petitioner has taken the plea in the miscellaneous petition that interior minister Rehman Malik was dismissed from service from FIA and President Asif Ali Zardari had converted his dismissal from service into retirement. The court had been requested through the petition that president has no powers to convert dismissal into retirement, therefore, Presidential pardon in respect of Rehman Malik be set aside.
