Sindh distributes wheat four times among Thar’s drought-hit
MITHI (APP): Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Jam Khan Shoro has said that Sindh government is the only government which distributed wheat four times among drought-hit victims in Thar.He said this while speaking to media during his visit to Tharparkar district to review the drought situation on Saturday. He said that the government has deputed 25 veterinary doctors to cope with shortage of doctors in Thar. There are 6.7 million livestock in Thar and the government will provide fodder for them there, he said. A 3-member committee, comprising three Sindh Ministers, will review the mitigating steps taken by the government in Thar, he said.
He said that Livestock Ministry was doing a satisfactory job in Thar for the livestock despite having insufficient funds.
Rejecting allegation of corruption in the procurement of fodder, he said that the fodder was not procured on weight basis but on truck basis.He said that better health services were being provided to drought-hit victims in Thar.
He said that a committee will review the health facilities in Thar.

Kashmirink Foundation to promote Pashmina industry globally
SRINAGAR (NNI): Kashmirink Foundation has roped in Ashlee Monroe, a star women entrepreneur and TV show host as Goodwill Ambassador (GA) for Babar’s Pashmina Goat Project. The foundation said Monroe is a well-known individual in Canada, who will serve as an “Honorary Diplomat” to gather support for the project from large organisations, corporate, institutions and individuals from across the world. Monroe will help to bring awareness about the challenges faced by the eco-system and represent the Foundation’s initiative to larger groups for the purpose of building friendly, cooperative and mutually beneficial relationships that will be beneficial to the Project, it said.
In association with the founder, Babar Afzal, Pashmina activist, Monroe will host social functions, fashion shows, etc. for the welfare of the Pashmina Eco-System to help attract International support to the project.
The global demand for pure and authentic Pashmina requires that awareness events be hosted globally, especially in over 100 countries that import Pashmina, to spread awareness, it said.
Mohtasib directs Wapda to provide safety gadgets to line staff
ISLAMABAD (APP): Wafaqi Mohtasib, Salman Farooqui has directed WAPDA to provide latest safety gadgets to its line staff for safeguarding their lives. He took cognizance on a news item published in a section of press, in which it was reported that an IESCO Line Man lost his life in Quaid-e-Azam Colony Sub Division Rawalpindi due to non-provision of safety gadgets Earlier, another leading newspaper also published two pictures dated May 21 and June 29 regarding the vulnerability of line staff of electricity providing companies, which causes fatal accidents and loss of precious lives of such working staff as they have not been provided with modern age safety gadgets and they are always exposed to electric shocks.
The Wafaqi Mohtasib also directed WAPDA to order all the DISCOs and K- electric to ensure the adoption/implementation of revised Assistance Package as recently notified by the Government for families of their employees who die in service. Salman Farooqui had sought compliance report from WAPDA within a month.
Pakistan, China enjoy excellent
relations: Baocheng
ISLAMABAD (APP): The mayor of Chinese southern city of Dongguan, Yuan Baocheng has said Pakistan-China enjoy excellent relations which has promoted peace and development in the region. In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s special correspondent, Ghulam Qadir Baig, Mayor of Chinese southern city of Dongguan said that huge potential exists to take volume of trade to new heights between two countries. He said both the countries are trusted partners in bilateral trade and investment that has boosted economic cooperation in several fields.
Yuan Baocheng said huge potential exists to take the volume of trade to new heights as China has already expressed its readiness to invest in power projects in Pakistan to meet shortfall in energy sector there.
The Chinese mayor said he plans to visit Pakistan soon to see the possibilities and opportunities for enhancing the trade and investment in different fields.
To a question, he said China believes that Pakistan is not only the trade partner but also the trusted friend to take uniform decisions at regional and world level for promoting peace and development.
The city of Dongguan is considered as the factory of manufacturing goods on mass level relating to machinery, ceramics, textiles and electronic products which has helped China to become the second vibrant economy in the world.
People laud reduction in fuel prices
ISLAMABAD (APP): The residents of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday hailed the government’s decision for reducing the prices of various petroleum products. The residents of twin cities while welcoming the decision said that this would reduce the burden of inflation and provide relief to common people. Muhammad Kashif, a shopkeeper said that the reduction in petroleum prices would benefit the business community and accelerate businesses. He said that the prices of all commodities, including edibles will also come down and transportation cost will also be reduced. Saeed Akhtar, a resident of G-7 said that the credit for such a large reduction in petroleum prices goes to the present government.
He also appealed to transporters to cut their fares so that the people get goods, especially the essential items, at low prices along with relief in their routine travelling bill.
Ahmed Ali, a government employee expressed the hope that it would directly provide relief to the common man.
