GUJRANWALA - Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Regional Director Fareed Ahmed said that legal action would be taken against corrupt government officials.

Addressing a meeting with circle officers, he said about 88 inquiries were conducted and 61 cases finalised during the three days. The regional director emphasised upon the need to accelerate the inquiry procedure and directed that the cases scrutinised in three inquiries would be finalized. He said there was no need to inquire into the matter again. He also directed that pending cases of 2014 may be finalised till 31st of October 2017 while pending cases of 2015 be finalised till 30th November 2017.

The ACE deputy directors of Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot; Mandi Bauauddin, Narowal and Hafizabad districts and circle officers also participated in the meeting.

Meanwhile, an Anti-Corruption team arrested the storekeeper of THQ Hospital Nowshera Virkan involved in embezzlement of medicines. The action was done in the light of an inquiry held in this regard by the anti corruption officers. It was told that anti-corruption team headed by circle officer Shahid Mehmood Ghumman also recovered Rs459 thousands from the accused Hamid storekeeper.

He said action would be taken against corrupt officers and officials of government departments and cases would be got registered against them if found involved in corruption.
