LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Friday said that ensuring peaceful environment for citizens was prime responsibility of the state.

 “Maintaining law and order and protection of life and property of the people is our utmost responsibility and every possible step is being taken in this regard. Supremacy of law will be ensured at all costs, he said while presiding over a meeting at his office. He took a detailed review of law and order in Lahore and other parts of the province in the wake of recent developments and re-affirmed his commitment to take all possible measures to protect the life and property of citizens.

The chief minister said the prevailing circumstances necessitated unusual steps, therefore, the line department must take foolproof steps to make the situation smooth. He directed that security of important places should be enhanced and necessary steps should also be taken in line with the devised security plan.

Buzdar maintained that the PTI government fully believed in finality of Prophethood of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), adding that it was part of their religious faith. “We want to deal with the situation with forbearance and long animus; and for that purpose, we are trying to move forward with cordial disposition,” he added.

He said that there was a strong need to promote national unity and cohesion in society and they all should continue playing their active role in this regard. “We are moving forward for betterment of the country and leaders of religious parties, mashaikh and scholars should also play their effective role in this regard,” he said.

Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja, Federal Secretary Interior, Chief Secretary, IG Police, DG Rangers, ACS (Home) and other officials attended the meeting.
