Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Samiul Haq, was laid to rest at the Darul Uloom Haqqania next to this father in Akora Khattak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province’s Nowshera district on Saturday.

His funeral prayers were offered at his hometown this afternoon.

The funeral prayers of the influential religious scholar and former senator offered at the Khushal Khan College Ground.

Several religious leaders and politicians, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor, provincial chief minister, JI Chief Sirajul Haq, former KP governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, ANP’s Ghulam Bilour, PML-N’s Raja Zafarul Haq and others attended the funeral.

Earlier today, First Investigative Report (FIR) of the assassination of JUI-F chief Maulana Sami ul Haq has been registered.

The FIR has been got registered by Maulana Hamid ul Haq Haqqani son of Maulana Sami ul Haq against the unknown attackers with Airport police.

According to FIR stab, wounds from 10 to 12 were found on chest, mouth, shoulder, heart, ear and forehead and blood flowed profusely out of these wounds.

Maulana Hamid ul Haq said in FIR that his father was martyred by the enemies of Islam and Pakistan. We don’t want postmortem of the body because it is not Islamic.

Maulana Samiul Haq was accompanied by his secretary Syed Nasir Shah and he was to move to Aabpara to attend the demonstration in connection with Asia Bibi case. But on becoming informed that road was closed he did not attend the demonstration and he took rest at home being indisposed.

According to his son, his father was taking rest at his residence and driver and the gunman had gone out of the home. When they returned they found the body of Maulana lying in a pool of blood.

Police has taken Maulana Samiul Haq’s two domestic staff members into custody for questioning.

Meanwhile, investigation officers carried out fingerprint scans of the phone, glasses and other items belonging to the religious scholar. His phone records have also been obtained.

Further, CCTV footage of the housing society where the JUI-S chief resided is being obtained to identify the suspects.

It is pertinent to mention that Maulana Sami ul Haq was stabbed to death a day before at his residence in Bahria town Safari Villas, Rawalpindi.
