Considering the number of days that are lost in holidays and the hours in attending to essential needs of living, it is difficult to find fault with students if they fail. A year has only 365 days, after all. And the following is a typical academic year: 52 Sundays, and as we know Sundays are for rest; 50 holidays when weather is very hot and it is difficult to study; other holidays, for instance of festivals, 40 days; eight hours of daily sleep would take away another 130 days; an hour of daily playing (good for health) means 15 days; two hours daily for food and other delicacies would cost 30 days; an hour for talking (man is a social animal) means 15 days; exam days a year at least 35 days; for sickness at least 3 days; movies and functions 2 days. If anyone has been keeping count of the days lost to studies, as I have enumerated above, only one day is left and that happens to be ones own birthday And how can someone study on that day?? How can a student pass?? IMRAN KHAN SIAL, Karachi, September 30.
