ISLAMABAD Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the brutal murder Dr Farooq Khan, a renowned religious scholar and Vice Chancellor of Swat Islamic University who was gunned down in Mardan Saturday. The Prime Minister lauded the services of Dr Farooq Khan for the promotion of education in the underdeveloped areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Dr Farooq rendered valuable services, said the PM, regarding transformations in the curricula in accordance with the Islamic teachings. While reaffirming the governments resolve to fight terrorism, the Prime Minister said that his government was committed to eradicating the menace of terrorism in all its forms at all costs. Those elements who are playing with the lives of innocent people, he added, would not escape the law of the land. The Prime Minister also directed the authorities concerned to investigate into the sad incident. He expressed his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in peace and grant courage to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.
