Shortfall in power generation led to lengthy 8-10 hours loadshedding across the country, which added to public woes, a private TV reported on Sunday. Authorities said that the duration of power cuts has been extended to 8 to 10 hours in urban areas, as the power shortfall is 4,700 megawatts against the demand of 15,000 MW. In rural areas, 12-hour loadshedding is being carried out. Shortage in gas and furnace oil rendered Kepco and other distribution companies unable to abide by the blackout schedules. Authorities concerned said that the power cuts are hard to check unless the shortage of oil and gas is met.
