LOS ANGELES: Robert Downey Jr has hinted that he may continue playing Tony Stark in more Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The Iron Man star is contracted to play the superhero in Avengers: Age of Ultron, a role he’s already completed filming, as well as one further Avengers outing. Downey Jr previously revealed that there are no plans for Iron Man 4, but in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he actor suggested that he is keen to ride the wave of superhero popularity. “I’m sure we’ll ride that thing. You’ve got to surf that all the way in to shore,” he said. “I think I was at the forefront of something that was coming into being, and I think it has carried me as much as I have informed it,” he added of the surge in popularity of comic book films. “That’s the healthy way to look at it. It’s so easy to become inflated by the successes, but what they really are are long, strong trends. It’s just another wave.”–DS
