KARACHI - Institutional interest in selected stocks resulted in market closing above 30,000 points level on Thursday.

At local equity market benchmark further posted a fresh gain of 74.97 points or 0.25 percent to end the day at 30071.58 points compared to the 29996.61 points of the previous day. Fallen crude oil prices in international market further support the local bourse and the first time in the history of KSE we seen the positive trend at local bourse just ahead of Eid days. Positive indicators shows that any political change would not brought some extraordinary impact in the market, said Nadeem Moulvi Director MM Securities while talking to The Nation.

Samar Iqbal AVP at Topline Securities said Mari closed at upper limit after bonus announcement few days back while institutional interest was seen in NBP and BAFL.

KSE-Allshare index up by 87.48 points or 0.40 percent to close the trading at 22073.39 points, KSE-30 index added 33.29 points or 0.16 percent to stop the session at 20431.18 points while KMI-30 index increased by 28.09 points or 0.06 percent to conclude the day at 48836.28 points.  Market traded 168.466 million shares after opening at 125.391 million shares and the value of traded shares was climbed to Rs 8.380 billion from Rs 7.077 billion while the capitalisation of the market maintained at Rs 7.004 trillion compared to Rs 6.979 trillion of a day earlier.  Trading took place in 387 companies where gainers beat the losers 208 to 162 while the value of 17 stocks remained intact. Nestle Pak.XD and Rafhan Maize were the biggest price gainers of the day up by Rs 100 to Rs 7700 and Rs 50 to Rs 11250. Murree Brewery and Shezan Inter were the top price losers of the day decreased by Rs 52.56 to Rs 1002.94 and Rs 39.95 to Rs 915.34.  Active list was topped by Bank AL-Falah with 18.079 million shares as it closed at Rs 29.63 after opening at Rs 28.50. Dewan Motors was the second highest on volume chart with 11.957 million shares up by Re 0.21 to Rs 8.09. It was followed by Askari Bank with 9.681 million shares grew by Re 0.34 to Rs 21.97, PTCL with 6.825 million shares marginally down by Re 0.02 to Rs 23.73 and Engro Fertilizer Ltd with 6.291 million shares higher by Re 0.49 to Rs 55.14.
