Profiteering goes unchecked

LODHRAN
The district price review committee has failed to keep a check on the prices of daily use items as a result profiteers are fleecing consumers across the district.
The consumers at different markets told this scribe that it was the responsibility of the committee to fix prices of daily-use commodities and then ensure that the traders, vegetable and fruit sellers sold items accordingly, adding that it seemed the district administration had given the profiteers a free hand to fleece the poor masses with both hands.
The continued price hike and absence of Sasta Bazaars in the city perturbed the residents who urged the authorities concerned to set up such a model bazaar to supply subsidised daily use items to the working classes.
