LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday reiterated his pledge not to rest until last flood affectee was rehabilitated, saying that he along with his entire team will celebrate Eidul Azha with flood-affected people.

The Punjab chief minister stated this during a visit to Rodoo Sultan here to review disbursement of compensation process among the affected people.

Addressing to a big gathering, Shahbaz Sharif said that Eid gifts would be distributed and food would be provided to the affected people on Eid. The chief minister pointed out that the government had started rehabilitation of flood-affected people as he regarded the affected people’s welfare as first and far most priority.

On the occasion, some charged people started raising slogans of “Go-Nawaz-Go” which forced the chief minister to stop speech and leave the stage.

During the speech, the chief minister informed that the government had released first instalment of the financial compensation and thousands of flood affectees had received the amount, adding that the remaining people would receive the amount of Rs25,000 within two days. The Punjab CM revealed that after two weeks, the government would compensate for crops damages to farmers. Shahbaz Sharif asserted that the government would provide seeds and fertilizers to farmer for the upcoming season of wheat sowing.

He claimed that the PML-N government had sanctioned an historical package of billions of rupees to compensate flood affectees for the loss of lives, homes and crops. The Punjab chief minister said that his government was providing financial assistance to the flood affectees within days and not months. Shahbaz Sharif declared that every deserving affectee would receive his right without any difficulty, adding that he would utilise all-out resources for support and rehabilitation of flood affectee in this hour of trial. He reiterated his pledge not to leave the flood-hit brothers and sisters alone.
