LAHORE - At least 15,000 policemen will be deployed on security of mourners during the month of Muharram, Lahore CCPO Muhammad Amin Wains said on Friday.
Addressing a meeting of district peace committee at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, the Lahore police chief there would be zero-tolerance policy against the violation of loudspeaker act. He urged the religious leaders and scholars to play their due role in maintaining peace and harmony in the society. DIG (Operations) Haider Ashraf, DIG (Investigation) Sultan Chaudhry and other senior officers were present on the occasion. All the members of the peace council also attended the meeting.
Elaborating the security strategy, the CCPO said the police have prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure foolproof security during the holy month. Apart from massive police deployment, armed patrolling would be ensured round-the-clock in the sensitive and most sensitive areas, he added.
