ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court yesterday served contempt of court notices on Secretary Health for defying court’s orders.

 A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Noor-u-Haq N Qureshi issued the notices on a contempt of court petition moved by 14 employees of Directorate of Central Health Establishment.

The IHC single bench directed Secretary Health Muhammad Ayub Shaikh to appear before the court within 10 days and explain that why did he disobey court’s directions.

The employees of Health department moved the court through their counsel Barrister Raja Saif-ur-Rehman and cited Secretary Health Sana-ul-Islam, Directorate of Central Health Establishment and Muhammad Mudasir, Section Officer Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination as respondents. In their petition, they adopted before the court that since there was an effective order of this court passed on July 10, 2015 but in flagrant disregard to the orders of this court, the respondents have disobeyed the said orders.

They contended that despite the receipt of the aforesaid orders, the respondents have disobeyed and violated these orders by intentional and willful act of not allowing them to join the offices and by stoppage of their salary which is tantamount to gross violations of the orders for which they are liable to prosecuted in accordance with law. Therefore, they prayed that in view of the above submission, it is requested that in the interest of justice and to upkeep the dignity and status of this court, appropriate contempt proceedings may be taken against the respondents.
