Islamabad - Pakistan Humanitarian Forum, a representative body of international non-government organisations yesterday welcomed the government’s policy to regulate working and functioning of INGOs in Pakistan as well as their fresh online registration.

Federal Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on last Thursday had announced new policy to regulate INGOs in the country and the start of the new process of their online registration. “PHF believes the new policy is a positive step forward to ensure a transparent and accountable system is in place to facilitate INGOs work in reducing the vulnerabilities of 27 million people,” said a statement issued by PHF. “PHF member INGOs look forward to working in cooperation with the Government of Pakistan to ensure efficient and swift implementation of this new system,” it added. Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior in a statement said that public at large, representative bodies of INGOs and other circles concerned had welcomed the new policy on INGOs. It said that more than two-dozen INGOs had accessed the online registration process within one day of the announcement of the policy. It is encouraging that stakeholders had welcomed the policy.

The purpose of the new policy is to improve and bring transparency in the working of INGOs and to make strong the partnership of government with them. The ministry will welcome the positive and constructive inputs for the improvement of the policy, it added.
