A case against the Model Town tragedy’s ‘mastermind’ Rana Sanaullah is expected to open soon.

“Rana Sanaullah was the mastermind of Model Town tragedy. Azam Suleiman, who was the home secretary at the time of Model Town tragedy, had opposed the operation and expressed his concerns about the possible massacre, but Rana Sanaullah took it on his ego and ordered to continue the operation,” police sources said.

All the police officers involved in this operation had opposed but continued it on the orders of the then Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, sources added.

According to these sources, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government issued orders to dismiss all the police officers involved in the operation and take the legal action against them.

It’s a worth mentioning here, that all the involved officers were dismissed but the PML-N government had later reinstated them and gave them promotions.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, a few days ago, called Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Tahirul Qadri and promised to provide justice to the victims of Model Town tragedy. He had also directed the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to suspend the involved officers immediately. Model Town tragedy had claimed the 14 lives.
