LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday awarded cash prizes and commendatory certificates to the position holders of BA & BSc and FA & FSc examinations-2008. The Chief Minister handed over cash prizes and certificates to girl and boy students who showed outstanding performance in the examinations during a ceremony here. A cash prize of Rs 300,000 was given to the first position holders in BA & BSc examination, Rs 200,000 to the second position holders while Rs 175,000 to the third position holders in BA & BSc exams. Similarly, Rs 200,000 was given to all position holders of FA & FSc examination-2008. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that a Talent Endowment Fund has been established allocating Rs 500 million to enable the students obtaining marks above a certain percentage to continue their studies in abroad. A committee will be constituted to select the students for the purpose, he added. He said that the government would also bear education expenses of all the position holders of BA and BSc exams. Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, Vice Chancellors of all universities, Chairmen Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education also attended the ceremony. Earlier, all position holders were presented guard of honour.
