LAHORE - Striker Muhammad Asif hit last-minute equalizer as National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) drew 1-1 with Chaman's Afghan FC at Govt. High School Ground last night. A passionate crowd was available to support the home team who managed 18 points from ten matches while NBP have 14 points from 13 games. The 80th match of Pakistan Premier Soccer League 2008 saw Afghan in command right from kick off and could have scored in the 31st minute but Jadeed Khan missed clear-cut chance. Afghans seized the early initiative, with Jadeed Khan, Ahmed Shah, Hayat Ullah  stringing passes through a hesitant banker's defence. The home team continued their onslaught and eventually broke in the 39th minute, with Haji Ahmed Shah taking advantage of a Mehmood run and pass by winger Dawood to get the Afghans ahead. They led 1-0 at interval with Ahmed Shah joining PIA's Zeeshan Ali on 6 goals - one behind Shakir Lashari (PIA). Muhammad Rasool (KRL) and Abdul Rehman (KPT) are current leading scorers with eight goals each. Afghans defended well in the second session and took their narrow lead to closing stages of the match . When it seemed NBP will suffer sixth defeat, Muhammad Asif broke the tight marking and off-side trap and finished the job with style in the 89th minute. Meanwhile, Haroon Yousof also snatched 90 minute equalizer as PMC snatched 1-1 draw with KRL. The scorer for KRL was also formewrskipper Muhammad Essa in thje 54th minute. The Garhi Shahue's Railway Stadium saw 200th goal of the 141-day show went into the book. It was scored by current Vice Captain of Pakistan Imran Niazi in WAPDA 2-0 win over PTV. Imran hit the back of the net in the 62nd minute after winger Abdul Abbas 's opener for electricitymen in the 55th minute. The remaining 102 matches of the event will be played after Eidul Fitr from 8 October with venue break-up (Karachi 22, Chaman 2, Lahore 17, Faisalabad 8, Islamabad 26, Rawalpindi 27).
