ISLAMABAD (APP) - Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has temporarily reduced the load shedding hours in its region due to reduction in power demand and supply gap. According to official sources, National Power Control Centre (NPCC) has also reduced its loadshedding quota for IESCO from 100 MW to 75 MW due to improvement in power situation. They said instead of three to five hours loadshedding in a day there is only one-hour load shedding in the IESCO region. They added in company region power demand was reported as 1537 MW against supply of 1312 MW while power shortfall was 225 MW. However, they said load shedding duration can be increased or decreased as per requirement in over populated or overloaded areas which depends on overall power situation. According to Ministry of Water and Power, the gap in power supply and demand has decreased due to rain and change in weather resulting reduction in load shedding in the country. It said there is less load shedding now a days as compared with same period last year. It added that total demand of electricity reported was 13081 MW against generation of 13186 MW with shortfall of 105 MW. Sources said that all power distribution companies (DISCOs) have already been asked to avoid unannounced load shedding and inform the consumers in case of any emergency or fault in the system causing forced loadshedding. They said Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) is making all possible efforts to enhance the electricity generation capacity in the country through multi-dimensional generation strategy. Meanwhile, IESCO has advised its customers that they may get loadshedding programme from IESCO helpline 118 or Chief Executive Complaint and Monitoring Cell established at IESCO headquarters on toll free No:0800-25250 or their Sub Divisional Complaint offices, whose numbers are given on their electricity bills.
