No govt can tackle economic issues alone

LAHORE - Federation, chambers and trade bodies, being major stakeholders, are in a strong position to provide guidance to the government on the problems being faced by the trade and industry as no government can tackle such issues alone. This was the upshot of the speeches delivered at the inauguration ceremony of Guard Auto Zone at Metro Cash and Carry, the first-ever Auto Zone for quick non-stop solution and vehicles check up in the country. Managing Director Metro Cash and Carry Giovanni Saronzo, Chairman Chief Minister Task Force S A Hameed, Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce Iftikhar Ali Malik spoke on the occasion and threw light on ongoing economic scenario in Pakistan. A good number of leading industrialists and business leaders also attended the inauguration ceremony, held here at Metro Cash and Carry near Thokar Niaz Baig. Speaking on this occasion, the Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Ali Malik said that the government would have to take the business community along for an economic revolution in the country. He said that allover the world, the suggestions and proposals forwarded by the business community are valued and incorporated while making policies and the government in Pakistan would have to adopt same methodology to get the desired results. He said that cut in high markup, improvement in law and order situation and promotion of regional trade could do miracle in true sense of the word. Iftikhar Ali Malik said that the SAARC Chamber was looking into the issue of regional trade and would soon be issuing policy guidelines to the regard for the promotion of mutual trade among the SAARC states. Over the issue of forthcoming LCCI elections, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that the PIAF-Founders Alliance was in a strong position to sweep the Associate Class polls. He said that the Alliance had brought forward talented and young businessmen with an objective to serve the nation in a better way. Chairman Chief Minister Task Force on Food Support Programme S A Hameed said that the government was putting in its best efforts to ensure relief to the masses and would leave no stone unturned to achieve this target. He said that the government had evolved a mechanism to get direct feedback from the stakeholders to ensure implementation of policies in letter and spirit. He said that the Chief Minister Punjab understands well the issues being faced by the economy and he was doing the needful on priority basis. Managing Director Metro Cash and Carry Giovanni Saronzo said that they had full confidence in the policies of the present government and the days are not very far when Pakistan would be standing tall among the comity of nations. He said that Auto sector in Pakistan was expanding fast and inauguration of Guard Auto Zone at Metro Cash and Carry would help save the precious time of the customers while they would be shopping at Metro as the most modern equipment have been installed. Project Director Guard Auto Zone Sheryar Ali Malik while talking to reporters said that it would be 16th auto zone in Pakistan which would cater the needs of motorists for immediate change of brake oil, disc pad, brake shoes, brake lining, filters besides immediate of all gauges like battery and tyres within 30 minutes time while you are shopping at Metro. He said that the products of Guard Group of companies established in 1960 known for the best quality, would be provide to customers at one window facility through nationwide network. Sheryar Ali Malik further said that the data of the vehicles using the facility of Guard Auto Zone is being computerized and the staff would inform the customers through SMS, e-mail and by phone about the next day of change of oil and filters.
