ISLAMABAD The Supreme Court on Thursday termed the statement of Advocate General Punjab Khawaja Haris unsatisfactory and directed police to ensure the early arrest of absconder police officials involved in an incident of two brothers killing in Sialkot. The two brothers Hafiz Mughees and Muneeb were brutally beaten to death in the presence of police officials on 15th August. The Court asked the District Police Officer Sialkot to speed up the efforts to arrest the accused officials including former Station House Officer (SHO) Rana Ilyas. The DPO Sialkot conceded the fact that important information was being leaked by some police officials due to which arrest of the culprits was being delayed. He told the bench that he did request to Regional Police Officer (RPO) to provide independent police officials from other areas except Sialkot region. The Chief Justice ordered independent investigation into the matter and asked the police officials that case of murder of Bilal and two injured persons was as important as the case of murder of two brothers. When Khawaja Haris submitted that the case of Bilal should be allowed to transfer to Additional Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhera who was also investigating the murder case of Mughees and Muneeb, Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday remarked, We will not comment on the merit of the case. The Court adjourned the hearing till September 6.
