LAHORE - Notwithstanding the terror that has shocked the country besides creating panic in the localities adjacent to Karbala Gamay Shah, a wounded son of a Crime Investigation Department (CID) Inspector is hopeful to start new life in future. A 25-year-old injured Zeeshan Haider, son of a CID Inspector Haji Shamshad Hussain and only brother of three sisters, seemed quite hopeful having smile on his lips lying on the last bed of second floor of Emergency Department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Thursday. Zeeshan, a fruit seller by profession, and resident of House No-18, Ghalib Colony in Samanabad, was advancing towards a Sabeel (traditional drinking water for the devotees) when he heard a voice like 'click behind him and turned to see the matter as some people also raised voices of catching someone. Zeeshan said that a boy between 19 to 21 years of age exploded his suicidal vest even three to four devotees had overpowered him. I can remember his face. He was young, short beard but seemed quite savage from his face, he added. Almost 10 people were told dead in that blast when I was admitted at the aforementioned hospital, he said adding that it was a huge bang of first blast, which took place on the left side of Lower Mall police station at about 6:45 pm. Zeeshan, who sustained multiple wounds on his both legs above ankles and on back, said that in spite of suffering severe injuries he raced his bike towards his home in state of bewilderment. My cousin hired a rickshaw and rushed me to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital saying the matter was serious, he added. Fatima, elder sister of Zeeshan in Karachi, was the first family member who phoned him and inquired after the health. She started weeping when the injured told her about his condition. My father was in mourning procession at paternal village Mari Shah Sakhera near Kot Shah, Jhang, when he knew about the blast. He however stayed there when I assured him that my condition was out of danger, Zeeshan added. Zohra Bibi, mother of the wounded youth, cried bitterly on phone even the injured youth consoled her about his condition. Meanwhile, Zeeshans cousin Fakhar Raza, a policeman deployed at Bibi Pak Daman Darbar, rushed to the hospital. Replying to a query, he said shallow security arrangements were the main reason of this incident as once he himself entered the site picking five kg fruit bag covered with sheet but none of the policemen intercepted him for security search.
