LAHORE – At least 15 people besides the father and father-in-law of the renowned female Pakistani singer Annie were booked by Defence-A Police Station in connection with the Marriage Act on Sunday.
The town municipal officer concerned, along with a heavy police contingent, raided the Divine Marriage Hall on Saturday night and asked the administration to abide by the laws of Marriage Act by shutting down the doors of the hall before 10:00pm.
The police also tried to arrest the bride, the bridegroom and other relatives, resulting in a scuffle. Later, police booked Annie’s father-in-law Mushtaq Awan, her father Dr Khalid and other 15 relatives under the Marriage Act. No arrest has so far been made, while further investigation is underway.
Also, the Pakistan Army will impart special training to warders serving in Punjab prisons and the training would be equally beneficial for Elite Force personnel, sources told TheNation on Sunday.
According to the sources, about 4,800 jail warders would be trained after which a batch of 100 warders would join the Elite Force personnel. “Around 200 jail warders would be given training in connection with counter terrorism activities, and modern arms and ammunition,” they added.
