LAHORE – Terming Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) a major hurdle in the alliance of religio-political parties, Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith chief Senator Prof Sajid Mir alleged on Sunday that the Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) was constituted to frustrate the efforts aimed at the revival of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).

Addressing a press conference after Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith (MJAH) Central Executive Committee meeting on Sunday, he said 90 per cent of the population was annoyed with the government and wanted the Opposition to assume power.

Prof Sajid Mir said some forces wanted to stop the PML-N and other parties from coming into power by dividing the Opposition. He alleged that hidden forces were using Imran Khan for achieving desired results in the general elections.

He advised opposition parties to realise the situation as lack of unity would benefit the PPP and its allies. He said the United States was carrying out drone attacks with the consent of the rulers and armed forces. He said the country was facing serious challenges because of wrong policies of the government.

“Unemployment, price-hike, loadshedding and increase in POL prices have made the life of the masses miserable,” Mir said. He stressed forming a commission of experts for creation of new provinces. He said there was a need to develop consensus on Kalabagh Dam. “Real peace could only be established in the region after departure of the US and Nato forces from Afghanistan,” he added.
