A meeting of the leadership of PPP and MQM chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari was held in Karachi on Monday.
The meeting discussed coalition matters‚ Local Bodies elections and law and order situation in Sindh.
The President underlined the need for jointly working for peace in the province‚ especially in Karachi.
He said PPP believes in policy of reconciliation and taking along all its allied parties on matters of national importance.
President Zardari said the law and order situation in Karachi demanded that all the political forces should work together for peace in the provincial metropolis and bringing those responsible for creating law and order situation to justice.
He said ensuring law and order and protection of lives and property of the people is the priority of the Government and no comprise will be made in this regard.
The meeting also discussed holding of Local Government elections in Sindh.
The President expressed the hope that the two parties would soon reach an agreement on holding of local bodies elections in the province. Those who were present during the meeting included among others Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Dr. Asim Hussain, Dr. Farooq Sattar, Senator Babar Khan Ghouri, Pir Mazharul Haq, Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Mr. Rafique Engineer, Mr. Rashid Hussain Rabbani, MNA Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Muhammad Kanwar Naveed and Mr. Raza Haroon.
