ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday stayed the holding of prize distribution ceremony of top position holders of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).
In this connection, Chief Justice IHC Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi also directed to issue notices to FBISE and other respondents.
Saad Jan and Aabira Saeed have challenged the FBISE's policy to determine the top position holders through their lawyer Raja Inaam Amin Minhas advocate.
During the hearing, the counsel of the petitioner Saad Jan informed the court that his client obtained 927 marks in Humanities Group of Intermediate while the Board declared Sara Noor as first while she obtained 914 marks.
Similarly, he told that Aabira Saeed got 1010 marks in General Science Group and the second position holder Navira Tahir also obtained 1010 marks.
He stated that the Board did not announce second position for Aabira as the same position is given to the students who obtained similar marks.
He added that in this case, Board had ignored his client.
Therefore, he requested the court that first and second positions should be given to the students as per their obtained marks.
He also prayed that the court may also issue directions to halt the holding of prize distribution ceremony of position holders of the FBISE.
