Claims to end outages made afresh

GUJRANWALA
The government has laid a network of power transmission lines and established new grid stations to improve supply of power.
The completion of up-gradation of power transmission and distribution system by the end of 2016 will not address low voltage issue but will also help overcome other related problems.
Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali stated at the inauguration of newly constructed grid station, having a capacity of 132 KV, at Wapda Colony Gujranwala the other day.
The state minister said the government has increased its national power transmission capacity to 16,200MW which would be further enhanced to 21,000MW by the end of next year. Apart from improving the transmission system, the minister, the PML-N government is also working on contingency measures to decrease loadshedding. He said that work on Neelum Jhelum project is underway and it would be completed soon. He claimed that as a result of the newly-constructed projects, power availability in the system had already showed a significant improvement and reiterated that power loadshedding would be eliminated by 2017.
Abid Sher Ali criticized PTI chief Imran Khan, saying Mr Khan and his aides did not want Pakistan to be prosperous. “Khan has started levelling rigging allegations gain to fulfil his ‘hidden agenda’ but the PML-N candidate will defeat him in by-election to NA-122,” he said. The state minister suggested that Imran Khan should resolve issues being faced by the masses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead of levelling such allegations to gain ‘cheap sympathies.’
On the other hand, the activists of Aam Log Party held a protest against overbilling and protesters intercepted the minister’s motorcade. They chanted slogans against the government and minister. Security squad of minister pushed away the protesters and made unblocked the road.
