Completion of electoral lists demanded

LAHORE The Jamaat e Islami has demanded completion of the electoral lists at the earliest with the weeding out of bogus votes to make the lists reliable. The JI political committee which met at Mansoora on Sunday with the JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch in the chair, also called for adopting immediate steps to ensure fair, free and transparent elections with the election results acceptable to the electorate. JI deputy chief Sirajul Haq, JI provincial heads and provincial secretaries, and JI election wing chief, expressed dissatisfaction over the three years performance of the government and said that the growing unrest among the people and their distrust in the rulers proved that the rulers had failed to deliver. Expressing grave concern over two life attempts on the life of the JUI (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the JI committee called upon the government to take measures for the security of the life and property of political and religious leaders. The committee believed that life attempts on Maulana Fazlur Rehman had been engineered by the colonial powers to harass the Islamic forces and the religious leadership in the country. It demanded judicial enquiry into these attacks in order to forestall such incidents in the future.
