ISLAMABAD - President PML-Q Ch Shujaat Hussain on Sunday admitted that efforts for the unification of all factions of the Pakistan Muslim League could not succeed. Talking to reporters after meeting with JUI-F Chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the latters residence, Shujaat said his party was in contact with all the political parties on national issues. He criticised the performance of the govt saying it failed in curbing the menace of terrorism. Ch Shujaat said it was very unusual that the terrorists made two attempts on Maulana Fazlur Rehmans life in two consecutive days. The PML-Q Chief said that governments poor performance during three years forced his party to protest in the National Assembly. However, he added it was specifically against the governments performance and they did not protest during Presidential address to the Parliament. During the meeting with Fazl, Ch Shujaat lamented the attempts on his life. Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said nobody had yet claimed responsibility of the attacks ,adding, it would be pre-mature to name anybody without concrete evidence. He said the government had offered him enhanced security after the attacks. He said that the country was in grip of war ,adding, the US had been attacking the region for the last 10 years. To a question, he said execution of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a judicial murder. Insiders claimed that both the party leaders during the meeting discussed in detail the strategy for the upcoming National Assembly session. It was decided that both the parties would give hard time to ruling PPP on several issues of common interests during the upcoming session, they added.
