Health, other depts directed for close coordination


RAWALPINDI - Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Imdad Ullah Bosal directed district health and other concerned departments to make the ongoing anti-dengue and larva-cider campaign more effective by evolving close coordination.
He said that spray must be conducted on open sites, public parks, playgrounds and cattle sheds after lifting of waste and garbage there from. 
He also directed to make bound the owners and administration of housing societies for lifting of debris and waste construction material from the construction sites and anti dengue spray must be ensured there.
He further directed DCOs of all districts of the division to chalk out a comprehensive program and larva-cider spray campaign be implemented more speedily and effectively. Commissioner said this while presiding a review meeting on dengue held in his office here on Tuesday.
DCOs of Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal and Attock, Principal Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) Dr Musadaq Khan, MD WASA Raja Muhammad Shoukat, EDO Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal, EDO Agriculture GM Gillani, Medical Superintendents of DHQ Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital Dr Sher Ali and Dr Asif Qadir Mir and representative officers of various departments were also present on this occasion.
The commissioner said that awareness campaign on Dengue also be expedited to make the citizens aware for adopting precautionary measures in their houses and surroundings.
He added that youth especially student be made aware in schools and colleges and campaign should be taken forward on both precautionary as well as treatment side. Imdad Ullah Bosal directed MSs of the hospitals to make effective arrangements for treatment of dengue suspect patients if any come to the hospitals.
The EDO Health informed the meeting that so far no case of any dengue suspect has been reported during current year of 2012. DCO directed MD WASA Raja Mohammad Shaukat to ensure repair of tube-wells and pipe line leakages so that there may be no storage of water in open pitches.
He also directed to ensure arrangements for pumping out of water from low lying areas in case it rains heavily.
MD WASA Raja Mohammad Shaukat informed the meeting that all arrangements especially relating to the repair of leaking pipes, tube-wells and pumping of stagnant water are finalized and completed. EDO Health informed the meeting that field staff of health department is already active for creating awareness about dengue at union council level in the district.
Commissioner directed all DCOs to review time to time larvacide campaign by holding meetings at district level with a view to make the on going campaign against dengue more effective and ensuring comprehensive steps in this respect.
